Mr W. A. Weekes, of Maxwell’s Line, Palmerston North, celebrated his 102nd birthday on Sunday. He arrived in New Zealand in 1886 from England. Mrs McCracken, Essex Street, Masterton, has received official advice that her son, Private Leo McCracken, was lost at sea on August 17, 1942, while being transferred to a prisoner of war camp.
