POLLING TODAY
PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS BRISK VOTING THIS MORNINGARRANGEMENTS FOR GIVING RESULTS. Polling is taking place in New Zealand today for the election of Parliamentary representatives and on the issue of National Prohibition and in certain electorates, including Masterton, on the question of local no-licence. The polls will close at 7 p.m. and the first progress returns should come to hand about 7.30 p.m. In the v «ise of some of the city seats, the finals should be known about 8.30 p.m. and for some ot the country electorates about an hour later. Soon after the booths opened this morning brisk voting was recorded and this was maintained more or less throughout the morning. A similar position was recorded in Carterton. Progress reports from district polling places will be posted up on the “TimesAge” display board as they come to hand and in addition, they will also be announced over a microphone. The election results for New Zealand as a whole will be announced by a loud speaker system connected by radio to 2YA. The candidates for the Masterton seat have been invited to address the electors from the ‘/Times-Age” balcony as soon as the result of the poll is known. Portion of Chapel Street adjacent to the “Times-Age” building will be closed to motor traffic tonight from 6.30 p.m. onwards. The W.F.C.A. parking area will not be available for use by motorists, as access to it is included in the length of the street to be roped off.
