OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS

PRICE OF SUGAR (To the Editor.) Sir,—A large advertisement appears in today’s “Times-Age” headed “More Lies Nailed,” in which it is stated that sugar was priced 2s for 61bs. in 1938 and is priced 2s for 61bs. today. Mr Nash, in his broadcast address, made the same statement. I take their word for the price in 1938, as I do not re'member what I paid for it in that year but I regularly pay 4£d per lb. for it in 1943, It costs me 5s 7£d for my ration of 151bs. per month —every housewife I have mentioned the matter to also pays 4Jd per lb. A clear rise in price of 121 per cent. —Yours, etc., HOUSEWIFE. Masterton, September 23.
