SOLDIERS’ DANCE GOOD ATTENDANCE AT TOWN HALL. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the soldiers’ dance held in the Town Hall on Saturday night. The music was supplied by ,J\liss M. Herrick’s Orchestra, and extras were played by Misses C. Saba, M. Tocker, C. Christianson and Sergeant K. Dunning. The M.C. was Mr P. Habib. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Corporal McCormack and Miss B. Burgess. A competition for a box of chocolates was won by Mr Lobb. Golf Competition. A final stableford competition was played on the local golf links during the weekend and resulted: —Miss M. Ruane, 1; Mr W. H. Rowles, 2; Mr Gillett, 3. Citizens War Time Service. There was a large attendance at the Citizens’ War Time United Service last evening. The Rev. J. R. Higgs read the lesson and Padre H. W. F. Troughton gave an inspiring address. The singing was led by the combined choirs. Junior Red Cross Anniversary. A special service in connection with the 21st anniversary of the establishment of the Junior Red Cross was held in St. John’s Church yesterday morning. Personal Items. Private T. Gallus and Mrs Gallus (Feilding), Mrs F. Wallace Senr., Miss Wallace (Wanganui), Mr and Mrs T. Ward (Marton), Sergeant F. Wiggins and Mrs Wiggins (Wanganui), and Sergeant R. Sadler (R.N.Z.A.F.), were visitors to Featherston on Saturday. COSY THEATRE “FOR EVER CHERISHED.” On Wednesday night there will be presented one of the finest sport stories ever brought to the screen. “For Ever Cherished,” in which the chief roles are taken by Pat O’Brien, Ronald Reagan, Gale Page and Donald Crisp. Another excellent picture to be shown will be “Woman at Arms.”
