WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

. MEETING AT GLADSTONE. COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Gladstone Women's Institute Mrs Cooper presided. The roll call was “uses of wool,” and some interesting ideas were given. Mrs McKay gave an interesting demonstration on spinning wool and also displayed knitted articles. She was accorded a vote of thanks. The results of the monthly competitions were: —Six spring blooms: Mrs Smith, 1; Mrs McKay, 2. Pot of marmalade: Mrs Dudson, 1; Mrs Cooper, 2. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Ireland and her helpers. Next month the competition will be “a novelty gift,” and the roll call suggestions for Christmas gifts.
