CARTERTON

WOMEN’S DIVISION SUCCESSFUL DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The dance held in the State Theatre, Carterton, on Saturday night by the Carterton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was a most successful and enjoyable one. The Monte Carlo competition was won by Miss M. McPherson and Mr K. King. A Lucky Spot waitz was won by Mrs Rees and Mr B. McPhee. Mr T. Udy’s orchestra supplied excellent dance 'music, and much-appreciated items were played by Misses C. Lorenzen, V. Irwin and Mr G. Challis. The proceeds will be devoted to the purchase of parcels for prisoners of war. Personal Items, The late Mr R. Culajevich, of Carterton, whose death was reported on Saturday, and who saw service in the Great War in 1915-18, was recommended for the Victoria Cross for bravery in battle, but being of foreign nationality was not eligible for the distinction, although he received the pension. Mr Geo. R. Grimmer, of Palmerston North, was a visitor to Carterton on Saturday. The local branch of the New Zealand Labour Party request that voters not able to attend polling booths on election day should ring telephone 211, Carterton, for information regarding postal, invalid and absentee votes, or for car accommodation.
