PATRIOTIC EFFORT

MAKING CP DISTRICT QUOTA OF FUNDS AS THANKSGIVING FOR VICTORY OVER ITALY. MAYORESS APPEALS TO ALL WOMEN. The Mayoress of Masterton (Mrs T. Jordan) who is also chairman of the Women’s Patriotic Committee, is appealing to all women in the town and district, as a thanksgiving for the victory won over Italy, to help in raising part of the sum needed to make up this year's district quota of the Patriotic Funds. “A very large meeting of women representing twelve different organisations was held yesterday,” Mrs Jordan stated today, “when it was decided that the women of Masterton and district should help to raise part of the deficit of this year’s quota for Patriotic Funds. In view of last week’s sensational victory in Italy those present felt that they would like to see the money raised by voluntary contribution and decided to call it a thanksgiving effort. I therefore appeal on behalf of those present at the meeting, to all women of Masterton and district to give according to their capacity in appreciation of the signal contribution made by our fighting men to the downfall of Italy. Subs, may be sent to Mrs O’Hara Smith or left at the thanksgiving depot in Queen Street on any day during the next week.”
