AIRCRAFTSMEN AND POLITICS

Have you ever seen the wonderful craftsmanship and technical ability that young men display after a few weeks’ training in the workshops at an Air Force station? By modern training methods and by the inspiration of skilful leadership, a lad of average education and intelligence can surprise himself in a few weeks by his knowledge and ingenuity, by his handling of tools, metal and plastics. Watching an aircraftman at work suggests a lesson that has a bearing on the policy of the National Party. That Party plans for the employment of 25,000 extra men in building houses, the workers to be trained by special modern methods, so that carpenters, bricklayers, masons and other craftsmen will be created in a few months. If an unskilled lad can become an aircraftman in a short period, the average worker can become competent for the building industry in a few months also. The National Party is out for new methods and new ideas -that will help to provide a home for every family—congenial jobs for all at good wages—promote good health and good citizenship—entourage initiative and free enterprise.
