SEAMEN’S STRIKE
» — CALLED OFF IN NEW SOUTH WALES. NUMBER OF SHIPS MANNED BY NAVAL RATINGS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The seamen who have been on strike at a New South Wales port for a week have decided to resume work. Officials of the Seamen’s Union will discuss the men’s grievances with the Federal Government. A number of , vessels were affected by the strike, but before it ended most of them had been manned by naval ratings. The termination of the strike will relieve acute coal shortages in other States. Restrictions on the use of gas in Melbourne will be lifted, but railways restrictions in Victoria and South Australia will remain to enable coal stocks to be built up.
