GENERAL ELECTION
NOMINATIONS OF CANDIDATES MANY ASPIRANTS. ADDITIONAL LIST OF NAMES. Two hundred and ninety-one candidates for the 76 European and four Maori seats in the House of Representatives were left in the field when nominations closed at midday yesterday for the general election to be held on Saturday, September 25. The number exceeds by 115 the number that sought entry to Parliament at the previous general election in 1938.
