WEDDING
* McMAHON—HANLEY. A beautiful gown of off-white magnolia satin was chosen by a popular young lady, Miss Patricia Hanley, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Hanley, of Wrigley Street, Masterton. for her marriage at St. Patrick’s Church this afternoon to First Sergeant Robert Everett McMahon, U.S.M.C., eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. E. McMahon, Murray Hill, NewJersey, U.S.A. The church was artistically decorated with spring blossoms. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Gilhouly and Mrs Bunny was organist. Miss M. Diggins sang a sacred solo. The bride was escorted by her father. Her gown was cut on flowing classical lines. A heart-shaped neckline with tiny buttons and loops down the front and back to the bodice was featured and panels of shirring fell into a long, graceful train. The long sleeves came to a point over the wrists and silver shoes were worn. A finely embroidered veil was caught up with a topknot of velvet roses. The bride carried a shower bouquet of white cyclamen, freezias, hyacinths, tropical rhododendron and trailing maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids were Misses Beryl (chief) and Aileen Hanley, sisters of the bride, who [ were attired respectively in pretty frocks of pink and green sprigged sheer cut on slim fitting lines, and featuring puffed sleeves and rounded bodices. Each wore silver shoes and pretty net Juliet caps, with toning velvet flowers. Their shower bouquets were, respectively, composed of pink hyacinths and camelias, relieved by touches of blue and golden spring flowers with green irises. The best man was Technical Sergeant John H. Lee, and the groomsman was Sergeant Verne E. Baxter. The ushers at the church were P.F.C's. Jack Canfield and Tom Henderson. „ , The reception was held at the Savage Club rooms which were gay with spring blossoms, camelias, rhododendrons, native birch and ferns. The hundred guests were received by Mrs Hanley and Mrs Betty Dearmont, Director of the American Red Cross Service Club, Masterton. Mrs Hanley was attired in a dress of black wool georgette, relieved with white and wore a red shoulder spray. Mrs Learmont wore the uniform of the American Red Cross organisation and a white shoulder spray. Pride of place on the table was taken by a two-tiered wedding cake, donated by Mrs Hamill (aunt of the bride). Father Gilhouly was the toastmaster. When the bride and bridegroom left for the north the bride travelled in a pastel shaded costume with black accessories.
