To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the women's franchise movement in New Zealand, members of ’ women’s organisations and other Car- | terton ladies will hold a celebration in B the Masonic Hall at 2 p.m. tomorrow. I Miss Kirk, of Wellington, will address I the gathering. Personal Items. Mrs F. Curry, of Frederick Street, Carterton, who has been an inmate of the Masterton Hospital for some weeks, has returned to her home. Football. The following players will represent Carterton B grade against the A team on Saturday next. Players will assemble at the Showgrounds at 1.45 p.m.:—Catt, Phillips, Kennedy, Chapman, Garrett, Jury, Taylor, Geange, Hannah, Hurndell, Bird, Ireland, Thomas, Butcher and Forbes. Boy Scouts’ Card Party. There was a good attendance at the card party held by the Boy Scout Committee last evening. The prizes were won as follows: Ladies, Mrs A. Jensen 1, Mrs C. Holland 2; men, Mr Edwards 1, Mr G. Goodin 2. Championship Ball. One of the most successful gatherings held in Carterton for many years was the ball held last night under the auspices of the Carterton Football Club. There was a large attendance, and under the direction of Messrs J. C. Fitzgerald, I. Blake and K. H. Reid, the proceedings went with a swing. Mrs Ashton’s orchestra supplied the music. Corporal Simmonds, on behalf of the returned service men, thanked the Carterton Football Club for their hospitality. The interior of the hall was very ( tastefully decorated. Winners of the Lucky Spot waltzes were Mr and Mrs F. Harrington and Miss Mary Herrick and partner. Mr C. E. Gray, president c of the club, presented the following t with medals:—Seniors: Best forward, H. Mathieson; best back, M. Hurley; most improved player, C. Hurndell. Third grade “A”: G. Parker and I. ] Workman. Third grade “B”: N. Han- g nah and G. Garrett. The medals were d donated by Messrs W. Moroney, C. Lar- s j sen, P. Bain, H. Bain, C. Jensen, M. J. Parker and E. Wadham. The club desires to extend its thanks to the ladies’ committee for their excellent work in supervising and arranging the supper.
