'V~ CARTERTON CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr W. Howard Booth presided over the annual meeting of the Carterton Racing Club, held at Carterton on Saturday, when there was a good attendance of members. The report and balance sheet were read and adopted. The balance sheet showed a loss on the year of £272 18s 2d. In moving the adoption of the report the chairman said that in his report to the New Zealand Racing Conference, the president strongly urged that those clubs who had been deprived of their racing days through the military occupying their racecourses, should be assisted, by the metropolitan club in their district. Mr Booth said that the Carterton Club should send in a claim for assistance to the Wellington Club. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr J. G. Oates; president, Mr W. Howard Booth; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs L. H. Smart and P. Bain; hon. treasurer, Mr Geo. E. Alien; hon. clerk of scales, Mr W. C. Del'ler; hon. time-keeper, Mr E. J. Matson; stewards, Messrs H. J. Brown, W. C. Deller, G. H. Eaton, J. C. Harp, C. Jensen Senr., J. Johnson, R. G. Kemble, E. J. Matson, V. L. Robinson, W. H. Steel, G. A. Vincent and F. C. Yule. The following members were appointed a deputation to wait upon the Wellington Racing Club to request financial assistance to the Carterton Club: I Messrs W. Howard Booth, L. H. Smart, G„ E. Allen and P. Bain, with power to add to their number. It was resolved that the stewards meet at the course at 11 o’clock on Tuesday next, to interview Mr Parkin, of the Public Works Department. It was decided to call for tenders for the grazing rights in connection witn the club’s property.
