FEATHERSTON

PLUNKET SOCIETY MONTHLY COMMITTEE MEETING. (“Times- Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the committee of the Plunket Society, there were present: Mesdames Q. Donald (presiding), J. G. McKenzie, H. R. Bloxam, G. S. Sharp, A. S. Kilsby and V. Gooding. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames R. ML Matthews, J. R. Matthews. J. G. Donald. G. Rule, Archie Clark, E. M._ Wakely, G. W. Brandon and J. A. Halpin. One member resigned from the committee and membership of the society owing to leaving the district. The nurse’s report stated, inter alia: Number of cases on book since work began, 1018; babies under supervision, 58; pre-school children, 83. Visits to rooms: Adults. 95; babies, 58; older children. 33. Visits to homes: Babies, new cases 10. old cases 52; children. 3. Country districts visited: Martinborough, Pirinoa. South Featherston. Dyerville, Kaiwaiwai, Tuhitarata, . Tablelands, Western Lake, Hinakura and The Knoll.

It was reported that great benefit had been given to mothers and babies by Dr. Sharp having established an ultraviolet ray plant. Several babies who have shown the lack of sunshine have benefited greatly by the treatment.

Enjoyable Card Party.

A very enjoyable time was spent at a card party held at the Red Cross Society's rooms yesterday afternoon. Miss Eva Card was the winner at cards, while Mrs Sim .won a competition. Donations were received from Mrs Lang, Mrs Bladen and Miss Goodrich.

COSY THEATRE “PARDON MY SARONG.” On Wednesday night, Lou Costello and Bud Abbott will appear in the outstanding comedy, “Pardon My Sarong,” which is announced by the management to be the biggest and balmiest musical ever brought to the screen by them.
