LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

YEAR’S ACTIVITIES REVIEWED.

ITEMS IN ANNUAL REPORT.

The annual report of the Masterton League of Mothers expresses the thanks of the branch to the president, Mrs L. B. Maunsell, who has so thoroughly examplified the aims and objects of the league that she is an incentive to all members to follow her example. The number of enrolled members is 229.

Mrs Marchbank, the report states, has again represented the league on the Patriotic Committee. Thanks are expressed for the use of halls for meetings and to the many speakers during the year. The league has a pleasant room which serves as a creche. Thanks are due to the convenor, Mrs Ball, and her helpers, who have made it possible for mothers to enjoy the league’s meetings while their children played under supervision.

“With so many men overseas,” the report states, “it was decided by the Provincial Committee that each branch of the league should call for volunteers for mothers’ helpers. These members are to go into homes and mind the family while the mother has a few hours’ leisure. We are pleased to report that several members have already undertaken this work and have earned the gratitude of the mothers and the league. Mrs Miller Hope is convenor of this committee and would be glad of more volunteers for this work.”

The report refers to the war work of members, to the annual church parade, and expresses thanks to Mrs Miller Hope and the choir; the card secretary, Mrs Leo; the magazine secretary, Mrs Speight; the treasurer, Mrs Mabson; Mrs Norman Ninnes and Mr J. Ninnes for assistance, and all who had helped in other ways.
