GENERAL ELECTION
REMUERA SEAT. MR -ENDEAN TO STAND AS ' INDEPENDENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 16. The statement that ho declined to submit his name for selection as National candidate for Remuera was made by the sitting member, Mr W. P. Endean, today. A., deputation of the executive of the Auckland division of the National Party met Mr Efidean this morning to convey to him a resolution passed by the Remuera committee requesting him to submit his candidature to the selection ballot. The rules of the National Party provide that a sitting member of Parliament must, if called on, go to a selection ballot for party nomination. Mr Endean informed the deputation that he declined to follow this course. In accordance with the rules and constitution of the party Mr R. M. Algie becomes the official National candidate for Remuera. Mr Endcan announced that he would stand as an Independent for Remuera.
