WEST SCHOOL
BUSINESS AT COMMITTEE MEETING MILK SUPPLY FOR CHILDREN. REINSTATEMENT URGED. The monthly meeting of the Masterton West School Committee was held last night, Mr H. Scott being in the chair. The headmaster, Mr J. P. Farrell, reported a roll attendance of 337. On Arbor Day 50 trees had been planted in the native plant museum. During the preceding four weeks Dr Mulholland had carried out the immunisation from diphtheria of the school pupils, besides a general health inspection. The committee supported a movement to endeavour to re-establish milk supplies to the schools in the district, and the secretary, Mr H. P. Dugdale, was instructed to act accordingly. The Home & School Association, it was stated, was holding a shop day on August 18, to which the committee offered the potatoes grown last season for disposal. Mr F. G. Jestin, as a member of the Home & School Association, accepted the offer. Thanks were tendered to Mr Jestin, who had kindly donated benches to the school for use by pupils engaged in handcrafts.
Accounts amounting to £34 7s 2d were passed. The next meeting will be held on September 15.
