MEETING OF MASTERTON COMMITTEE CLOTHING & FOOD FOR'BABIES. DONORS OF GIFTS THANKED. The monthly meeting of the Masterton branch committee of the Plunket Society was held yesterday. There were present Mesdames J. Caselberg (in the chair), S. L. P. Free, N. Irwin, P. Nathan, H. Morrison, E. G. Norman, T. Jordan, C. A. Carmine, E. J. Heller, G. Cowie, J. Jameson, A. F. Stewart, A. H. Falloon, T. Wardell, T. F. Watson, J. M. Coradine and Miss B. Kummer. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames H. R. Keltie, H. Robinson, Kemble Welch, Sortain Smith, J. C. Broad, T. C. Richardson, R. C. Drummond and H. H. Daniell.

Headquarters advised that the Dominion president, Mrs BeggV and Dr Deans had visited Wellington to interview the Minister of Supply, the Controller of Rationing and others in regard to the supply of clothing and food for mothers and babies. Everything possible was being done to supply the demand. The Minister expressed satisfaction with the survey made by the Plunket Society, which coincided with the inquiries being made by the Government. Thanks were accorded to Mesdames Borthwick, J. M. James, T. F. Watson, J. Wardell and C. A. Cameron for gifts and White & Co. for 2 bags of coal. The nurses’ reports for July stated: Masterten, visits to office (town), adults 366, babies 356, pre-school children 63, casuals 13, total 785; visits to homes (town), new cases 65, old cases 80, total 145. Pre-school children seen in homes, 6. New cases for month, town 24, country 2; total 26. Tinui subbranch: Taueru, Blairlogie, AVhareama, Tinui, 2 visits each; Annedale Road, 1 visit; visits to homes, 30. Mauriceville sub-branch: Mauriceville East. Kopuaranga, 3 visits each; Mauriceville West, 2 visits; Mangamahoe, 1 visit; visits to new cases, 4; visits to old cases, 30; total, 34. Pre-natal section: New cases 1, return visits to clinic 8, outside visits (town) homes, 2; total, 11.
