NAVY LEAGUE
LADIES’ AUXILIARY MEETING. PATRIOTIC ACTIVITIES. A well-attended meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Navy League was held yesterday afternoon. Mrs S. R. Gawith presided, and there were also present: Mesdames D. M. Graham, R. C. Drummond; A. H, Daniell. E. G. Norman, A. Caselberg, W. 11. Robieson, D. Buchanan, J. V. Gordon, T. Jordan, and Miss Cameron.
Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames O. A. Bunny, P. J. Borthwick, W. G. Lamb, H. McKenzie Douglas, E. C. White, H. K. Mclntosh, C. Cameron Cook, G. C. Williams, S. Fletcher, and Misses Guild, McLaren and B. Vallance.
It was stated that the application for an extension of the permit to purchase clothing for seamen, coupon free, had been granted. The purchasing committee had bought 11 garments in July and forwarded them to the Seamen’s Mission.
It was decided to send a parcel of reading matter and playing cards to the Mission next month, and members were asked to bring contributions to the September meeting. The wool committee reported that two local men had been supplied with clothing during the month. The monthly packing had been postponed until Friday, August 13, when it was hoped that all finished garments would be handed in.
