Mrs H. A. Cunningham is the guest of Mrs L. T. Blatchford, Te Ore Ore. Mrs H. J. Mclntosh, Te Whiti, has been spending a week in the Marlborough Sounds. Mrs J. S. Nugent, Gisborne, is staying with Mrs W. L. Hunter, Coradme Street, Masterton. Mr and Mrs G. C. Williams, Short Street, Masterton, have returned from a visit to Tauranga.

The engagement is announced of Elizabeth Dorothy (Betty), Holms, .eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. C. Holms, Waipukurau, to Raymond Miller Falloon, second son of the late Mr and Mrs J. W. A. Falloon, "Bowlands,” Bideford.

Mrs Michael Ryan, formerly Miss Mary Kelly, well known as a nurse in Christchurch and Wellington, and now living in Portland, Nev/ South Wales, is the only woman appointed on a new housing commission set up by the Federal Government to plan the post-war housing programme in Australia. The funeral of the late Mrs J. Whitehead, of Martinborough, took place in Masterton yesterday afternoon. The service at Hyde’s Chapel and that at the graveside were conducted by the Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich. A number of beautiful wreaths were received, amongst them being one from the chairman, councillors and residents of the Featherston County. The pall-bear-ers were Messrs’ A. Grimstone, P. Michael, M. Wilton, E. Burgess, B. Morgan and W. Ridley.
