MEETING OF COMMITTEE.

RESIGNATION OF TEACHERS.

The monthly meeting of the Lans- ' downe School Committee was held in i

the school last evening. There were present: Messrs A. V. Faulknor (in the chair), J. Donovan. J. G. Mac Kay, R. E. Baker, C. K. Long, J. McGregor, C. H. Jarvis and the headmaster.

The headmaster reported that the roll number was 257, and although several of the children had been suffering with measles, the attendance had been good. Dr. Mulholland inoculated a number of children against diphtheria, and the second inoculation is to be given next week. The doctor car- | ried out her annual inspection of the | school last week. Mr T. Brockett also visited the school last week in connection with the various competitions of the Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs. The grounds were in good order. The fence along the Blain Street frontage had been completed. In connection with the Junior Red Cross sub-branch the senior girls were making good progress with the sewing of children's clothes. The sum of £1 9s 7d had been handed to Miss Admore, who will act as treasurer for the remainder of the year. This sum represents the amount in hand in connection with the Circles,

The resignations of the headmaster, Mr J. W. T. Jones and Miss Jean Feist, were received with regret.
