Seven nominations were received, including Mr M. E. i Lyons, National candidate in the recent I Christchurch East by-election, and Captain Richard Bothell, who is serving in the Middle East. CENTRAL HAWKE’S BAY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU? August 9. Up to the present two candidates have been announced for the Waipawa seat in the forthcoming parliamentary election. Mr C. G. Harker, the present holder of the seat, will stand in the interests of the National Party, and Mr A. Grant Holms (son of Mr A. C. Holms, formerly of Masterton and Featherston) is contesting the seat as an Independent. NEW PLYMOUTH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, August 9. Mr Leonard Arthur Jury, a farmer, of Brixton, near New Plymouth, has been nominated as the Democratic Labour candidate for the New Plymouth seat, making a four-cornered contest.
