FOR THE MASTERTON SEAT CAPTAIN JUSTIN POWER. SPONSORED BY PEOPLE’S MOVEMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Amongst candidates announced as members of the Independent group, sponsored by the People's Movement, is Captain Justin Power, who is to contest the Masterton electorate. Captain Power, who is 49 years of age, served for four years overseas inc the last war and rose from the rank of./ private to that of captain. He served for two years in this war, in the Second Echelon, and was mentioned in dispatches in 1942 for distinguished service in the field.

Captain Power is an ex-Auckiand Rugby representative, has represented Wellington at tennis and played for the Second N.Z.E.F. in Egypt as a tennis representative in 1941 and 1942. He won the Haig Cup in an inter-Allied chargers' jumping championship at an Army horse show in France in 1917. Captain Power has three sons serving in the present war. Other candidates announced by the People’s Movement are Flying Officer E. W. Sinton, for Remuera, and StaffSergeant H..M. Bagnall, for Auckland West.
