ST. ANDREW SOCIETY
SCOTTISH AND OLD TIME DANCING.
WELCOME TO SOLDIERS ON FURLOUGH.
Scottish and old time dancing was enjoyed at the monthly gathering of the St. Andrew Society, held in the Masonic Hall on Saturday night. Musical items variety •to the evening's entertainment.
The St. Andrew Society's Pipe Band contributed band music; Miss B. Perrin, accompanied by Mrs Perrin, sang “Bonnie Wee Thing.” and in response to an encore, "Rowan Tree’’; a number of an unusual nature in St. Andrew entertainment was given by Leading Aircraftman 11. T. Spain, who kept the audience amused by clever conjuring, and four Marines, present as guests of the society, gave a vocal quartette, unacompanied, which was very much enjoyed. In recognition of a well-deserv-ed demand for an encore they sang “Holy Night” very pleasingly. Corporal Cragg and Driver Hugh Lennie, who are at present on furlough from the Middle East, were heartily welcomed by the gathering, which sang “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.”
The dancing was directed by Mr J. Henderson as M.C., and Barnes’s Orchestra played the music. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and “God Save the King” concluded the evening's gathering.
