RED CROSS SOCIETY ENJOYABLE EUCHRE PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Red Cross Society held a very enjoyable euchre party yesterday afternoon, there being a good attendance. The first prize at cards was won by Mrs Kinsey. A competition was won by Mrs A. McKenzie. A donation was received from Mrs McKenna. Welcome to Soldiers. The settlers of the Kahutara district entertained the recently returned local service men at a euchre party and dance on Saturday night when, the Kahutara Hall was packed. A camp orchestra supplied excellent music. During the evening speeches of welcome were made by Messrs Ben Roberts, M.P., J. A. Juno (R.S.A.), and Mr Rendle. The ladies supplied supper. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs Mclntyre, Mr Smith, and Mrs Polton, Wellington, are the guests of Mrs C. Coi'let, Fahautea. Mr and Mrs H. Lawson are spending a few days in Wellington where Mr Lawson is receiving medical attention. Mrs D’Arcy Scholes, Ludlam Street, is visiting relatives in Wellington. Mrs L. McKenna, Pahautea, left yesterday on a visit to Napier. Vital Statistics. During July two births, one marriage and four deaths were registered in Featherston. Rainfall Record. There were fifteen wet days in July, the total rainfall being 4.25 inches. The heaviest fall was 1.07 inches on July 12. The rainfall in July, 1942, was 8.99 inches, with 22 wet days. COSY THEATRE “THE WIZARD OF OZ.” Tomorrow night there will be staged the brilliant picture, “The Wizard of Oz,” with Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger and Billie Burke in 'the leading roles. It is one of the picture sensations of the screen and should not be missed by patrons.
