PATRIOTIC WORK
MEETING OF SEWING GUILD,
(“Times-Age” Special.) The Ihuraua Ladies’ Patriotic Sewing Guild met at Tikitapu, when Mrs Dagg presided over a good attendance.
One new member was welcomed. Several interesting letters from local soldiers who are serving with fhe forces overseas were read. A letter was also received from Private Eila Bennett, who had acquired a successful racehorse in Tonga.
The competition for Mrs Meredith’s trophy was won by Mrs Anderson. Eleven parcels for service men overseas -were packed. A strong committee was formed to support Hamish Brunton, the Valley candidate in the Mauriceville-Ihuraua W.D.F.U. “Kiddies’ Carnival,” and an immediate start was made in connection with the campaign.
Afternoon tea was served, and a vote of thanks accorded Mrs Meredith for her hospitality.
