ATTACK ON CONVOY

OFF THE DUTCH COAST ENEMY SUPPLY SHIP SUNK. AIRFIELDS IN FRANCE BOMBED BY AMERICANS. LONDON, August 2. Beaufighters of the Coastal Command attacked a heavilyprotected enemy convoy off the Dutch coast. They sank a medium-sized supply ship and badly damaged three escort vessels. Canadian Spitfires shot down four enemy aircraft. AH the British planes returned safely. United States medium bombers attacked two airfields in Northern France. Bombs were'seen to. burst in both target areas. Heavy anti-aircraft fire was encountered, but no enemy fighters wore seen. Squadrons of fighters covered the operations, which were made without loss.
