SCRIMGEOUR CASE
WELLINGTON TRADES COUNCIL z RESOLUTION. DISMISSAL HELD “FULLY WARRANTED.” (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Wellington Trades Council, at a meeting on Wednesday at which 90 delegates were present, carried a resolution (six voting against): “That this meeting of the Wellington Trades Council, representing 36,000 trades unionists, after having carefully considered the report submitted by Mr McLagan, president of the Federation of Labour, in connection with the dismissal of Mr Scrimgeour, Controller of the Commercial Broadcasting Service, is satisfied that no person has at any time been given more consideration than the Controller of Commercial Broadcasting was given before action was taken; that action was only taken after every factor had been examined; that the Prime Minister and Government were, on the evidence submitted, compelled, in the'interests of good government, to follow the course taken and that the evidence submitted showed that the dismissal was fully warranted.”
