MAORI WAR EFFORT
DANCE IN ORANGE HALL. TO WHITI TRIBAL COMMITTEE. A most successful dance was held in the Orange Hall, Masterton, last night by the Te Whiti Tribal Committee. Visitors were present from Homewood, Papawai. Carterton. Te Ore Ore and surrounding districts. Popular music was played by the After Beat Dance Band. Mr Len Pike carried out the duties of M.C. Action songs by a Carterton party and the Interhouse Maori girls were greatly appreciated by the large audience present. Lieutenant H. Manihera spoke in support of the Maori war effort and apologised for the absence of Sergeant Edwards and Private Rewi.
The winners of novelty dances were: —Spot waltz won by Mi - L. Hemi and partner; Monte Carlo, Mr Rutherford and -Miss' Waireka Nini; Te Whiti cup, Miss E. Holes and partner. A dinner was won by Mr A. Himona.
