FEATHERSTON
MEN HONOURED GATHERING IN COOPER'S BARN. (“Times-Age” Special.) A large and representative gathering of local residents and friends attended a dance in honour of Stoker B. Dorset and Driver Hugh Lennie, held in Mr Cooper's barn, Opaki, on Monday night. On behalf of those present Mr T. K. Rollo presented each with a suitable gift and wished them good luck in the future. He also thanked Driver Lennie. who is on furlough from the Middle East, for the services he had already rendered to his country.
Both men replied. Dancing was enjoyed to music played by Mr J. West and an extra was played by Miss J. Rollo. A Monte Carlo waltz competition was won by Mrs N. Wyeth and partner. Mr W. Cooper was an efficient M.C. Supper was served by a capable committee.
GOLF CLUB I SHIELD MATCH AT GUM GROVE. (“Times-Age" Special.) The third shield match resulted in Miss M. and Mr L. G. Benton being equal for first place with Mr A. Clelland next. Personal Items. Aircraftman A. Juno is spending leave at Pahautea.
Miss Agnus Hector, Wellington, has arrived home for the Dewar—Hector wedding which will take place today. A welcome home to Private L. M. Fenwick was given by Mr and Mrs D. Sutherland at their residence on Saturday night. The time was spent in games, cards and singing. Mr Rex Playle, who has been an inmate of the Greytown Hospital for some weeks, has recovered sufficiently to be able to return to his home. The death occurred yesterday of a well-known settler -of Tauherenikau, in the person of Mrs Kate Nix, widow of Mr W. J. Nix, aged 79 years. COSY THEATRE “THE PRIME MINISTER.” ■ Tonight’s programme will be headed by the outstanding drama, “The Prime Minister,” in which the leading roles are taken by Will Fyffe, John Gielgud and Diana Wynyard.
