RED CROSS SOCIETY
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. At a meeting of the executive of the Red Cross Society, Mr A. W. Horton .occupied the chair. It was decided to donate £2 2s to Chinese and Turkish earthquake relief fund. It was reported that the Maori Tribal Committee would hold a dance in the Town Hall on Friday evening, the proceeds from which are to be donated' to the Red Cross Society's funds. It was decided that all Red Cross Society members be asked to support the dance. It was reported that Red Cross wool could be machine-knitted into socks for Is a pair, and that further information could be obtained from Mrs H. G. Carter.
CIVIC RECEPTION
TO RETURNED SERVICE MEN. A civic reception to the Greytown and district returned service men will be held in the Town Hall on Monday night. Mrs J. F. Thompson, who has charge of the concert items has been successful in securing the services of several prominent singers. The dance mqsic will be supplied by Udy’s Orchestra. It is expected that the whole district will take part in this welcome home.
WORKING MEN’S CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. I At the annual meeting of the South Wairarapa Working Men's Club. Mr W. Grigg occupied the chair, and there were thirty members present. The following officers were elected for the ensuyig year:—President, Mr W. Grigg; vice-president. Mr J. R. Reid; committee, Messrs N. S. McLeod. G. Burns, G. Brunton and A. H. McPhee; trustees. Messrs H. C. Trotman and N. S. McLeod; auditors. Messrs J. Kiernan and F. W. Wood. TOWN HALL TWO BIG FEATURES. There will be two big features at the Town Hall tomorrow night. “Riders of, the Timberline,” is an excellent west-1 ern story featuring William Boyd and Andy Clyde, and “Old Mother Riley in ; Business,” is a splendid comedy’ with j Arthur Lucan in the chief role. ;
