OPTIMIST CLUB

4 DEBATE WITH WHATMAN BOYS. HAPPY GATHERING HELD LAST NIGHT. A happy party of thirty young men sat down to tea at the Y.M.C.A. rooms last night when the Masterton Optimist Club held its weekly meeting. A party of boys from the Whatman Home under Major Dick and Captain Farr were present as guests. An enjoyable debate was held between three of the visitors and three club members on the subject: “That Alcohol is of no Use.’’ Mr E. J. Esler gave a splendid summing up of the debate and gave the debaters many useful hints. The president, Mr C. W. Gaze, extended a cordial welcome to the visitors. Major Dick and Captain Farr replied.
