CHURCH PARADE

ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE. ADDRESS BY ARCHDEACON E. J. RICH. A special address on the history and work of the Order of St. John was given at St. Matthew's yesterday morning by the Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich, on the occasion of a church parade of members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. All divisions paraded—Cadet, Nursing and Men’s. Archdeacon Rich referred to the great work of auxiliary services in this war and pointed out that members of the Order and other organisations, who had been carrying out work of that nature before the war, helped in forming the core of the wartime auxiliary services. The Order of St. John, in its long history, had always attracted, the type of men and women who found in service to the community an outlet for their ideals. Archdeacon Rich presented from the Order’s history of nearly 1000 years evidence of this service.
