WOMEN’S AUXILIARY.
MEETING IN MASTERTON.
The monthly meeting of the Masterton Methodist Women’s Missionary Auxiliary was held in the Methodist Schoolroom yesterday. Mrs G. H. Goodman presiding over a good attendance of members. After the devotional period, those present stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mrs Gillion, who had been a member for several years. Mrs G. Blanc (stamp secretary) reported that 14,000 used stamps had recently been cleaned’ sorted and sent away to a dealer. An appeal was made for used, clean envelopes, which had had the flaps turned in, for reconditioning for use to save paper. Mrs V. Grantham was appointed from the Auxiliary to instruct the members of the G. in handcrafts. After afternoon tea had been served by Mesdames G. H. Goodman and J. Andrew and Miss J. Andrew, Miss M. Burton and Mrs H. Speight read some interesting extracts from the Australian Missionary Review, telling of the evacuation of 100 children from Croker Island to Sydney. Votes of thanks were passed to the hostesses and to the speakers.
