I BOY SCOUTS CARD PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The weekly card party held by the Scout Committee was well attended. The prizes were as follows: —Ladies, Mrs A. Jensen 1, Mrs L. Goodin 2; men, Mr W. Morris 1, Mrs A. Thompson 2, The prizes were donated by Mr Morris. Football. The game to be played on the Carterton Showgrounds tomorrow between the Carterton seniors and the Combined team should provide good football. The match is timed to start at 2.30 p.m. A B third grade game, Carterton v. College, will be played at 1.30 p.m. The Carterton senior team to play against the Combined fifteen at the Showgrounds, Carterton, on Saturday, will be chosen from the following:— Mason, Desmond, Groube, Hurndell, Humphries, Stringfellow, Mathieson, McPhee, Conwell, Tilyard, Playle, Parker, O'Neale, Bush, Mahupuku, Jensen, McKenzie, Smith. Carterton third A grade team to play Masterton at Rugby Park: —Goodin, Bilton, Workman, Parker (4), Lenihan, Walsh, Rzoska, Berry, Oberg, Butcher, Bond, Rayner, Pankhurst, McKenzie. Players will assemble at 1.30 p.m. sharp. Third Liberty Loan. The Banks and Post Office in Carterton report that up to closing time yesterday a very good response had been made in subscriptions towards the Third Liberty Loan. Borough Estimates. A special meeting of the Carterton Borough Council will be held on Tuesday for the purpose of considering the estimates. Church Service. A Church of England service Will be held at the Parkvale Hall on Sunday, j Personal Items. Mrs W. Wadham has returned home after a holiday spent at Gisborne, Opotiki, Tauranga, Auckland, Hamilton and Palmerston North. Mrs Nix, Senr., Carterton, has been advised that her son, Aircraftman K. Nix, has arrived safely at his destination. Improvement of Broadway, The South County Council’s grader was at work on the southern side of Broadway yesterday, getting the roadway trimmed up in readiness for tar sealing. Metal will be put on the unfinished portion of the street. REGENT THEATRE “TORPEDO BOAT.” “Torpedo Boat” (a thrilling drama, featuring Richard Arlen, Jean Parker and Mary Carlisle) and “Forever Cherished” (an excellent romance, starring Pat O’Brien, Gale Page and Donald Crisp) will be finally shown tonight. :
