“WHAT SAY THEY?”

LITTLE THEATRE SOCIETY PLAY READING. LAST NIGHT'S PRESENTATION. “What Say They?” a two-act comedy by James Bridie was read by the Masterton Little Theatre Society last evening at the society’s hall, before a large attendance of members and others, the hall being crowded. The scene was in an imaginary Scottish University. The principal reading was by Mr J. B. Kent-Johnston, who gave an excellent interpretation as Professor Hayman, a Presbyterian University professor of very narrow views. Other parts were taken by the following: —Lord Carshennie, Mr V. Joseph; Sir Archibald Asher, Mr A. W. Don; Mr Sheltie, Mr Peter Alexander; Dan McEntee, Mr H. Mackenzie Douglas; Mr Milliken, Mr John Cunningham; Mr Mather, Mr A. J. C. Herrick; Miss Mere, Miss Josephine Gemmell; Adolphus Hayman, Mr B. J. Roache; Delia Hayman, Zeresh Hayman, Miss Helen Ward; Nellie, Miss C. D. White; Ada Shore, Miss Mary McLaren; Zither (the Bedellus), Mr L. T. Daniell. Mrs H. H. Daniell attended to the stage directions. The reading was an excellent one and was considered one of the most successful yet held by the society.
