The 172nd annual report of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company states that the profits for the year ended March 31 last amounted to £1,041,601 . The board proposes to pay a final dividend amounting to 17s a share, which absorbs £497,250, and £469,439 is carried forward.

For the past season, production in Australia was less than in the previous year because of shortage of labour and fertilisers. In Fiji, about 5 per cent more cane was crushed than during 1941. Sales of refined sugar in the Commonwealth and New Zealand amounting to more than 500,000 tons, constituted a record.
