WAIRARAPA INTERHOUSE COMPETITIONS

KEEN PLAY LAST NIGHT.

NO GAMES NEXT MONDAY.

Keen and exciting play marked the Wairarapa Interhouse Association’s indoor basketball competition which was continued in the Y.M.C.A. gymnasium. Masterton. last night. There was a large attendance of spectators. As the competition has advanced the standard of play has shown a marked improvement. There will not be any play on next Monday night on account of the King's Birthday holiday.. Transport showed a big improvement last night and should make a good showing in the competition. Hansell's would do better with an increased understanding among its players. United and W.F.C.A. put on a fast game, both teams showing good form. W.F.C.A. are a solid team but United could improve by more goal shooting practice. Rangers and Cody’s played their game at a furious pace. It was a brilliant game to watch. Rangers showed a distinct improvement in a spirited game against Cathie's. The latter team did not combine very well. Hosiery Mills showed better undersanding in their game but McDufT’s were inclined to play as individuals rather than as a team. C. Smith’s were persistent in their attack and showed good combination. Hansell’s played a good defending game but their goal shooting could be improved. Borthwick’s are on the upgrade. McDufT's could well open up the play more. McKenzie’s are following the golden rule that practice makes perfect while Cathie’s are showing keenness. The referees were Messrs Bud Waidelick, Riley. Higgins and Cornelius of the Marine Corps. . , „ Results:—Hansell’s B drew with Transport, 5-5; W.F.C.A. B beat United, 17-6: Cody's beat Rangers A. 13-11: Rangers B beat Cathie’s B, 12-5: Hosiery Mills beat McDufT’s A, 18-0 • Lancers beat Garages. 14-3; Hansell’s beat C. Smith's. 6-2: Borthwick’s beat McDuff’s B, 23-8 ; • Cathie’s A beat McKenzie's, 17-6; Sparklets beat Woolworth’s. 6-3; Hansell’s A beat Garages, 16-2. The latter game was postponed from last week.
