FOOD CONTROL

CENTRALISATION IN AUSTRALIA.

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) CANBERRA, May 25.

The Federal Government has taken action to centralise control of Australia's food resources. The Prime Minister, Mr Curtin, has announced that all production, organisation and procurement of foodstuffs is now to be carried out by a special organisation under the direction of the Minister of Commerce, Mr Scully. This organisation becomes responsibile for supplies to the Allied forces in the South-west Pacific area, to the civil population and also for overseas requirements. The change-over in control from the several bodies whose divided functions have been responsible for widespread criticism will be effected immediately.
