THANKSGIVING SERVICE

RECENT TUNISIAN VICTORY. Special thanksgiving services were held in St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, yesterday, when the Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich recalled some of the outstanding events in the African campaign. Because they believed they were fighting against the evil forces of the world, said Archdeacon Rich, they were able to sincerely offer thanks to God for the successes won in Tunisia. At churches in Masterton and district special prayers of thanksgiving were offered. Suitable addresses were given by the Rev David McNeur when he conducted services at Eketahuna and Alfredton yesterday. In the morning Mr McNeur conducted a memorial service at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Pahiatua, in memory of Corporal L. F. Barraclough,. who was killed on April 24 on active service overseas.
