The marriage took place at St George’s Church, Patea, on Saturday of Miss A. Huston and the Rev J. E. Jones. Mr Jones, who was formerly a resident of Masterton, is at present on leave from India, where he is head of the Church Missionary Society’s boys’ school at Chapra, Bengal. Mr William Edward Burrow died in Wellington last week. For many years in the employment of various departments of the Wellington City Council, he retired 12 months or so ago, taking up duty with one of the war service departments. He was one of the older members of the Karori Bowling Club. Years ago he was on the Karori School Committee, and he was for long associated with the Karori Horticultural Society. The death has occurred of Mr Elliot Leslie Thomson, aged 65, who was manager at Wairoa for Williams and Kettle for 28 years,, later taking over the Wairoa managership of the Hawke’s Bay Farmers Co-operative Association, which position he occupied up to the time of his death. Mr Thomson was chairman of directors of the Wairoa “Star” and a trustee of Lodge Waikaremoana, and was a South African war veteran. Formerly Apostolic Delegate to Australia and New Zealand, Archbishop Cattaneo died on Saturday in Rome, aged 77. News of his death was received in Sydney from the Vatican by the present Apostolic Delegate, Archbishop Panico. Dr. Cattaneo was appointed to the Australian delegation in 1917 as successor to the first Apostolic Delegate, the late Cardinal Cerretti. Since his return to Rome, Dr. Cattaneo has been Canon of the Basilica of St. Mary Major and treasurer of the Apostolic Camera. The funeral of the late Mr J. H. Griffin took place on Saturday afternoon, the Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich conducting the service at the chapel and that at the cemetery. There was a large attendance of mourners. Wreaths were sent by the W.F.C.A., Ltd., Produce Department, Messrs R. Hannah and Co., Masterton, and the settlers of Te Ore Ore Soldiers’ Settlement, besides many others from private sympathisers. The pall-bearers were Messrs K. A. Stewart, J. A. Donald, J. Carbot and R. E. Gordon Lee.
