VICTORIA CROSS

POSTHUMOUS AWARD TO BRITISH COLONEL. ANOTHER TO INDIAN OFFICER. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.5 a.m.) RUGBY, May 13. The award of two Victoria Crosses is gazetted, one to Lieutenant-Colonel D. E. K. Anthony Seagrim, of the Green Howards, awarded posthumously, and the other to Havildar Parkash Singh, of the Eighth Punjab Regiment. Colonel Seagrim won the decoration for deeds of valour at the Mareth Line and Havildar Singh for similar deeds in the Mayu Peninsula fighting, where he twice rescued companions under heavy Japanese fire.
