KING’S APPRECIATION OF GREAT SERVICE FINE TRADITION BUILT UP. INCREASINGLY IMPORTANT PART TO PLAY. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) RUGBY, May 13. In a message to the Home Guard on the occasion of its third anniversary, the King expressed.his appreciation of the service given and said: “And as the Army masses more and more to the offensive, so will your responsibility for the defence of this country grow heavier. The importance of your role will therefore inevitably continue to increase. The Home Guard has built up a tradition of service and devotion to duty. lam confident the coming year will add to that tradition and to the debt my people owe to you.”
