AMERICAN THUNDERBOLT IN ACTION IN EUROPEAN THEATRE. HARD HITTER WITH RANGE OF 1,000 MILES. LONDON, May 10. One of America’s newest and most powerful fighter aircraft, the Thunderbolt, is now in action against the enemy in the European theatre. It is a heavyweight fighter, twice the weight of the famous R.A.F. Spitfire. The original specifications provided for eight cannon and machineguns, capable of firing a hundred rounds a second between them. The 2,000 horsepower engine enables the aircraft to operate at 40,000 feet. It has a range of 1,000 miles.
