Trust Meeting.
There was little in the way of business on the agenda paper for the Masterton Trust Lands Trust meeting last night. It was decided to hold the estimates meeting at 7.30 o’clock in the evening to enable members to give full consideration to the estimates. The chairman, Mr H. P. Hugo, said he would like to see a representative attendance at the annual meeting of the Trust to be held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms,' Masterton, at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday. Taxi Control.
One hundred and seventy-five appeals against the taxi control committee’s directions came before the Auckland Metropolitan Transport Licensing Authority yesterday. Representing a group of appellants, Mr H. P. Richmond said the main objection was taken to the committee’s rostering system. There were 300 licensees engaged in the taxi business and the capital involved was £25,000. Licensees, while wishing to assist, objected to being placed in a rigid straight-jacket.
