YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUBS
ANNUAL REPORT. In. his annual report Mr W. James, president of the Wairarapa district committee of the New Zealand Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs, .stated that the activities of the club had been very restricted owing to the war, the only district activity being the stock judging contest. One club only has found itself unable to continue during the past year and there now remain three active clubs in the district. Very great credit is duo to the few remaining senior members of these clubs for the determined manner in which they have faced the difficulties that have arisen under war conditions. Despite many other calls on their time and energies, they have spared no effort to maintain their clubs. “Probably the most pleasing feature of the year has been the attraction of younger members to the clubs and
the manner in which they have assumed responsibility under the guidance of the older members,” states the report. “There is no doubt that we can be assured that when normal times return we will have a nucleus upon which to rebuild a strong and vigorous movement, and one which should play no small part in the difficult time of reconstruction that lies ahead. I would, in conclusion, like to record our appreciation -of the help freely given by so many interested persons and at the same time appeal to the farming community for their further aid during the coming year to sustain this very valuable organisation whose ranks are so seriously depleted through the needs of the armed services.”
