PLAY READING
AMUSING AMERICAN COMEDY.
LAST NIGHT’S PRESENTATION.
A most amusing comedy, “Arsenic and Old Lace,” an American play by Joseph Kesselring, was presented in the Little Theatre Society’s hall last night. The reading had the audience either bubbling or boiling over with its subtle wit and delicious situations. An added interest was that most of the male parts were read by guest readers from the U.S.M.C., giving a real Brooklyn atmosphere to the presentation. The cast was:—Abby Brewster, Miss B. Francis; Dr. Harper, Mr G. Morice; Teddy Brewster, Sgt. Bouchard; Officer Klein, Pte. Wardelich; Officer Brophy,
Pte. B. Kellar; Martha Brewster, Mrs Price; Elaine Harper, Mrs Cresswell; Mortimer Brewster, Pharmacist Whyte; Mr Gibbs, Mr Joseph; Jonathan Brewster, Mr Kennedy; Dr. Einstein, Pharmacist Rhodes; Officer O'Hara, P.F.C. Robinson; Lieut. Rooney, Mr Daniell; Mr Witherspoon, Mr Morice; stage directions, Mrs Rich.
