CARTERTON
BOWLING PAIRS TOURNAMENT. (“Times-Age” Special.) Carterton Bowling Club members continued their pairs tournament on Saturday and Monday. On Saturday H. Simmonds won the skips’ section with five wins. W. Whyte being run-ner-up with three wins. In the leads, W. Spooner, with three wins, was first, and H. Colson was runner-up with two wins. Yesterday Gordon Hughan and _H. Colson had a similar number of wins, but Colson won on the points, 64 to 60. Mrs Colson won the leads with 4 wins, Edwards being runner-up with 31 wins.
Damage Done at Theatre. On Sunday night the Regent Theatre was entered, and though nothing was taken, a certain amount of damage was done to the building, it is presumed by boys. The police have the matter in hand. Personal Items. Mr L. Curtis, of Carterton, left yesterday afternoon to spend a holiday in Nelson. Pte. Charles Rex Walker, who has been repatriated from Italy, is a son of Mr and Mrs E. Walker, of Tyne Street, Carterton. His wife lives in Kent Street, Carterton. REGENT THEATRE “MARY NAMES THE DAY.” The new Kildare drama, “Mary Names the Day,” will be shown tonight. The chief roles are taken by Lionel Barrymore, Laraine Day and Lew Ayres.
