ITALIAN DESTROYER

SUNK IN R.A.F. ATTACK

ON SPEZIA. SHIP OF LARGEST & LATEST TYPE. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) RUGBY, April 25. It is now known that the Italian destroyer sunk in the R.A.F. attack on Spezia on April 18, belonged to the Aviere or Oriani class, which are Italy’s largest and latest destroyers. They were-laid down in 1937, have a standard displacement of about 1,600 tons and are armed with 4.7 inch guns, in addition to eight anti-aircraft guns.
