MILK & CREAM
SUPPLY TO THE PAHIATUA ’ HOSPITAL.
BOARD MEMBER CHALLENGES PRICES.
“It seems as if the board is being fleeced,” observed Mr F. S. H. Bolton, at today’s meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board, when he referred to the tendered price of Is 8d per gallon for milk and 2s per pint for cream for the Pahiatua Hospital. Mr Bolton said the tendered prices for milk and cream at the Masterton and Greytown hospitals were respectively Is 6d per gallon, Is 9d per pint, and Is 5d per gallon, and Is 9d per pint. The Pahiatua price was higher; yet there was always plenty of green grass at Pahiatua and dairy farmers did not have the same trouble in regard to feed for cows as was experienced further south.
Mi’ Norman Lee, Managing-Secre-z tary, said there was only, one tender for the milk and cream supply at Pahiatua.
The board, took no action in the matter.
